    Northern Victoria Region

The Northern Victoria Region stretches right across the north of the state, from the Mallee to the Victorian Alps. Although it is mostly a rural Region, it includes the regional centres of Bendigo, Mildura and Shepparton, and at its southern edge it includes some outer Melbourne suburbs such as Diamond Creek, Mernda and Yarra Junction. Of the eleven lower house seats which make up the Region, Labor holds four (the two Bendigo seats, Macedon and Yan Yean), the Nationals four (Euroa, Mildura, Murray Plains and Ovens valley), and the Liberals two (Benambra and Eildon). Shepparton is held by an independent.

At the 2006 and 2010 elections, Northern Victoria elected two Labor members, two Liberals and one National. In 2014 the Liberals lost their second seat to the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers. They will be hoping to get it back this time.

Wendy Lovell was a minister in the Baillieu-Napthine government and is now Opposition Whip. Jaclyn Symes is the Government Whip.
