Wendouree was created in 2014, when Ballarat West (which had existed on-and-off since 1859), was renamed. It is a wholly urban seat taking in most of Ballarat, a city which has become increasingly solid for Labor in recent years: the Liberals haven't won a state or federal seat in Ballarat since 1996. But unlike Melbourne seats, it is heavily monocultural, with few professionals or graduates. Recent members (including for Ballarat West): Geoff Jenkins (Liberal) 1992-99, Karen Overington (Labor) 1999-2010, Sharon Knight (Labor) 2010-18, Juliana Addison (Labor) since 2018.
