Nepean was created in 2002, when the old seat of Dromana was renamed. The southern part of the Mornington Peninsula is a popular tourism and retirement centre. Nepean has the highest proportion of over 65s in the state. Like Dromana, Nepean has usually been a reliably Liberal seat, but Labor unexpectedly won it in the 2018 Andrews landslide. In 2022 it returned to its usual Liberal loyalty. Members: Martin Dixon (Liberal) 1996-2018, Chris Brayne (Labor) 2018-22, Sam Groth (Liberal) since 2022. Groth was Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party but resigned suddenly in 2026. He was succeeded at the by-election by Anthony Marsh.
