Kalkallo, in the fast-growing outer northern suburbs of Melbourne, was created at the 2021 redistricting, when the old seat of Yuroke was divided in two (the other new seat being Greenvale). It is a typical fring-urgban seat, with a very high level of young families paying off mortgages. It has significant populations of Indian immigrants and Muslims. Despite its name, most of Kalkallo's voters live in Craigieburn, a solidly Labor suburb. The seat's first member is Ros Spence, who held Yuroke from 2014. Labor suffered only a moderate swing in 2022.
