Status: Fairly safe Labor

Frankston was created in 1967, in the fast-growing outer southern suburbs of Melbourne. It has a stable population of homwe-owning families, with no significant ethnic minorities. It was divided into Frankston North and Frankston South in 1985, then reunited in 1992. There was also a Frankston East 1992-2002. All these have been marginal seats. Recent members for Frankston: Jane Hill (Labor) 1982-85, Graeme Weideman (Liberal) 1992-96, Andrea McCall (Liberal) 1996-2002, Alistair Harkness (Labor) 2002-10, Geoff Shaw (Liberal, Independent) 2010-14, Paul Edbrooke (Labor) since 2014. Hill held Frankston North and Weideman held Frankston South 1985-92. Members for Frankston East: Peter McLellan (Liberal) 1992-99, Matt Viney (Labor) 1999-2002.
