Division of Bullwinkel
Bullwinkel is a new division created by the 2024 redistribution. It consists of outer eastern suburbs of Perth formerly in the divsions of
Burt,
Canning,
Hasluck and
Swan, and some rural areas previously in
Durack and
O'Connor. The suburban areas are mostly middle-income and
politically marginal. The rural areas are strongly Liberal (or at state level, National). At the 2022 election it would have been marginally
Labor. But since Labor polled particuarly strongly in Western Australia in 2022 because of state issues relating to the COVID pandemic, this
probably over-states Labor's position in the seat.
The Labor candidate will be Trish Cook, Deputy President of the Shire of Mundaring. The Liberal candidate will be Matt Moran, a former advisor to Malvolm Turnbull and an experienced journalist in regional WA. The Nationals candidate will be
Mia Davies, former state leader of the Nationals.
