Ovens Valley was created in 2014, when the seat of Murray Valley was renamed. Although still based on Wangaratta, Ovens Valley has a more north-south orientation than the old seat, but it is still very safe for the Nationals. Like all country seats, it has a very low proportion of people born overseas, of graduates and of high-income huoseholds. Tim McCurdy was elected for Murray Vallay in 2010.
