Status: Very marginal Liberal

Caulfield was created in 1927, in one of the wealthiest parts of Melbourne, and has never elected a Labor members, although it came close to doing so in 2018. In recent years it has become the centre of Melbourne's Jewish community. It has been held by the Liberals since 1945, but has become more marginal since the 1990s. Recent members: Ted Tanner 1979-96, Helen Shardey 1996-2010, David Southwick since 2010. Southwick came close to defeat in 2018 but recovered his position in 2022. The 2021 redistricting helped him by putting Toorak into the seat.
