Comment:
The Liberals and Labor have won one seat each at every ACT Senate election since the territory gained Senate
representation in 1975. First the Australian Democrats and more recently the Greens have repeatedly tried and failed
to break the major parties' grip. The Liberals polled 0.97 quotas in 2019, so Senator Seselja, a conservative ally of Prime
Minister Morrison, should be safe in 2022. Labor polled 1.18 quotes, so Senator Katy Gallagher will be re-elected. The Greens polled
0.51 quotas, so there was not enough Labor surplus to get them near a quota. The same thing is likely to happen in 2022.
