For example, the National Party obtained 248,022 votes in Atlantida Department, in which voters could cast up to eight votes. This was 49.7% of all votes cast. The number of valid votes cast in Atlantida was 98,417. The actual number of voters who voted for the National Party is therefore calculated as 49.7% of 98,417, which is 48,913. While these figures are approximations, when aggregated at the national level they give a fair indication of the level of support for each party.
