The followers of Asquith fought the election as "Liberals without prefix." The Sinn Fein members did not take their seats. 23 Coalition Liberals, 41 Conservatives, 11 Labour members, 4 Liberals and 25 Sinn Fein members were elected without opposition. This explains the disparity between the party vote totals and the number of MPs elected. Women voted for the first time at this election.
