VICTORIA ==================================================================== LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY ==================================================================== THE FIFTY-SEVENTH PARLIAMENT ELECTED 27 NOVEMBER 2010 ==================================================================== Showing ministerial and parliamentary offices held in the period 27 November 2010 to 29 November 2014 Voting figures are taken from the Victorian Electoral Commission website. The Liberal-National opposition coalotion led by Ted Baillieu defeated John Brumby’s government at this election, ending eleven years of Labor government. The Liberals gained 12 seats (Bentleigh, Burwood, Carrum, Gembrook, Forest Hill, Frankston, Mitcham, Mordialloc, Mount Waverley, Prahran, Seymour and South Barwon) from Labor. The Nationals gained Gippsland East from the independent member. Brumby resigned as Labor leader after the election and was succeeded by Daniel Andrews. Nevertheless the Baillieu government had only a one-seat majority after providing a Speaker, and this was lost when Geoff Shaw (Frankston) resigned from the Liberal Party following allegations that he had misused his parliamentary entitlements. Shaw became increasingly hostile to Baillieu’s government, and in March 2013 he threatened to vote for a no-confidence motion. Baillieu then resigned, and was succeeded by Dr Denis Napthine, who survived as a minority Premier until the 2014 election.
