VICTORIA ==================================================================== LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL ==================================================================== ELECTION OF 1 OCTOBER 1988 ==================================================================== Shows ministerial and parliamentary offices held by MLCs in the period from 1 October 1988 and 3 October 1992 Voting figures are taken from “Statistics Relating to the General Election Held on Saturday the 1st October 1988,” Government Printer Melbourne 1989. Labor fared worse in the Legislative Council at this election than they did in the Assembly. Defending the big gains they had made in 1982, Labor lost Boronia, Nunawading and Templestowe to the Liberals and Gippsland to the Nationals. They had already lost the other Nunawading seat at the 1985 by-election. Offsetting this, Labor won the new seat of Eumemmerring and the Liberals lost the abolished seat of Bendigo. This gave the Liberals and Nationals a net gain of four from Labor.
