VICTORIA ==================================================================== LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY ==================================================================== THE TWENTY-NINTH PARLIAMENT ELECTED 9 APRIL 1927 ==================================================================== Showing ministerial and parliamentary offices held in the period 9 April 1927 to 30 November 1929 Voting figures are taken from "Votes and Proceedings of the Legislative Assembly." Party affiliations are taken from "The Argus." This election saw the further fragmentation of the non-Labor parties, with both the Nationalists and the official Country Party losing seats. Labor made no gains, but the disarray of the non-Labor parties forced the Allan-Peacock coalition government to resign. After the Nationalists failed to form a new government, a minority Labor government led by Ned Hogan took office, supported by Albert Dunstan’s Country Progressives and two of the independents. This alliance broke down in November 1928 over (as usual) a redistribution bill. Sir William McPherson then formed a Nationalist-Country Party coalition. In November 1929 McPherson was defeated on a motion relating to drought relief, whereupon he called an early election.
