John O'Shanassy, then formed his third government, which included William Haines and the Irish radical Charles G Duffy. This was a successful reforming government, and stayed in office until June 1863, when it was defeated on its lands act. It was succeeded by a more conservative ministry led by James McCulloch, which survived until the election of October-November 1864.
