VICTORIA ==================================================================== LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY ==================================================================== THE FIFTY-EIGHTH PARLIAMENT ELECTED 29 NOVEMBER 2014 ==================================================================== Showing ministerial and parliamentary offices held in the period beginning 29 November 2014 Voting figures are taken from the Victorian Electoral Commission website. The Labor Party under Daniel Andrews defeated the Liberal-National coalition government led by Dr Denis Napthine at this election. Labor retained the four seats it had won in 2010 but which had been turned into notional Liberal seats by the 2013 redistribution (Bellarine, Monbulk, Wendouree* and Yan Yean), and gained four seats from the Liberals (Bentleigh, Carrum, Frankston and Mordialloc). Labor lost Melbourne to the Greens, giving it a net gain of seven on the new boundaries, but a net gain of four compared with the 2010 election. The Liberals lost Prahran to the Greens, giving them a net loss of nine on the new boundaries, or five compared to the 2010 election. The Nationals lost one seat to the redistribution (the merger of Rodney and Swan Hill into Murray Plains), and also lost Shepparton to an independent. After the election Napthine resigned as Liberal leader and was succeded by Matthew Guy. Peter Ryan resigned as Nationals leader and was succeeded by Peter Walsh. * Formerly Ballarat West SUMMARY OF VOTES AND SEATS ========================================================================== Voters enrolled: 3,806,301 Total votes cast: 3,510,611 92.2 Informal votes: 182,982 05.2 Formal votes 3,327,629 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Party Votes % Seats -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Liberal Party 1,214,032 36.5 -01.5 30 -05 The Nationals 186,608 05.6 -01.3 8 -02 Australian Labor Party 1,264,528 38.0 +01.7 47 +04 Australian Greens 381,391 11.5 +00.3 2 +02 Country Alliance 43,056 01.3 -00.1 - Family First 37,057 01.1 -01.2 - Others 200,957 06.0 1 +01 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Total 3,327,629 88 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Seat totals are compared with those at the 2010 election, and do not take into account the effects of the redistribution. VOTING BY CONSTITUENCY ==================================================================== In most seats the first-preference votes and the final count add up to different totals. This is because the VEC checked all first- preference votes after the count was concluded, and either added votes found to be valid or eliminated votes found to be invalid, but did not conduct new distributions of preferences.
