TASMANIA ======================================================================== HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY ======================================================================== THE FORTY-SIXTH PARLIAMENT ELECTED 18 MARCH 2006 ======================================================================== The Forty-Sixth Parliament was opened on 30 May 2006 and was dissolved on 12 February 2010. Sources ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Voting figures are from the Tasmanian Electoral Commission. Biographies of elected members are from the Tasmanian Parliament website. Summary ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Despite widespread expectation that Labor would lose ground at this election, Paul Lennon's government was returned with its majority unchanged. Both the Labor and Greens vote fell slightly, but not enough to cost either party any seats. All three parties changed leaders during this Parliament. Rene Hiddings resigned as Liberal leader after the election, and was succeeded by Will Hodgman - the son, nephew and grandson of conservative Members. Premier Lennon resigned in May 2008, following (unproved) allegations of having received illegal payments. The new Premier was David Bartlett, who had been in Parliament only four years. Finally, Peg Putt resigned as Greens leader in July 2008, and was succeeded by Nick McKim.
