He didn't. * that Killen, a fierce anti-Communist, received Communist Preferences. He did not: he did benefit from the small drift of Julius's preferences, but this was cancelled out by the bigger drift of Hagen's preferences to the ALP. * that the ALP would have won the election if it had won Moreton. It would not have: the state of the parties would then have been 61- all. There would then have been a minority Menzies government followed by a fresh election. -------------------------------------------------------------------- OXLEY, Qld ==================================================================== West of Brisbane: Bremer, Gatton, Goodna, Ipswich -------------------------------------------------------------------- 1958 two-party majority: Liberal over ALP 05.9 e -------------------------------------------------------------------- Enrolled voters: 44,575 +04.3 Votes cast: 43,039 96.6 -00.3 Informal votes: 800 01.9 -00.3 Formal votes: 42,239 98.1 +00.3 -------------------------------------------------------------------- Candidate Party Votes % Swing -------------------------------------------------------------------- Hon Dr Donald Cameron * Lib 18,272 43.3 -12.4 Bill HAYDEN ALP 22,247 52.7 +10.8 Kenneth Rawle QLP 1,720 04.1 +01.8 -------------------------------------------------------------------- Total 42,239 03.5 e 09.4 to ALP -------------------------------------------------------------------- > Donald Alastair Cameron (1900-74): Elected 1949, 1951, 1954, 1955, 1958.
