* PDS - Partia Demokratike e Shqipėrisė (Democratic Party of Albania)
* PDI - Partia pėr Drejtėsi dhe Integrim (Party for Justice and 
   Integration)
* PR - Partia Republikane (Republican Party)
* PSS - Partia Socialiste e Shqipėrisė (Socialist Party of Albania)

The Assembly has 140 members. Under the new electoral system the country is 
divided into twelve districts, each of which elects members by proportional 
representation.

The Party for Justice and Integration and the Republican Party are allies 
of the Democratic Party. Together they have 70 seats, one short of a 
majority. The Unity for Human Rights Party is an ally of the Socialist 
Party. The Socialist Movement for Integration is not in an alliance with 
either major party. In the week after the election the LSI agreed to 
support a Democratic Party government, avoiding a political crisis.
